About me: The new beginning of "The Haunted Hideout"

My name is Nico Breitenstein. You might still know my project by its old name, "Halloween House Sonsbeck, Garden on Grüner Weg." But today, January 19, 2026, that has changed. I've decided to give the whole thing its own unique identity: The Haunted Hideout. It was important to me to create something of my own that stands entirely for my vision and my work.

My journey into the world of horror began in 2023. Having lived in a very remote area before, I had hardly any contact with Halloween. However, the elaborately decorated houses here in the village inspired me so much that in 2024 I decided to transform my garden into a spooky wonderland. With my first professional Halloween figure from America, lighting effects, and fog machines, it all began.

This project is closely linked to my hobby beekeeping, Bienchen. When I'm not tending to my bees, I'm busy creating new decorations. One thing is particularly important to me: you can save money on Halloween decorations! Through a lot of DIY work and creating my own animations, I prove that creativity is more important than a huge budget.

A project like this can't be tackled alone. A very special thank you goes to my mother, Heike Breitenstein. She actively supports me in transforming the garden year after year and bringing my creative ideas to life. None of this would be possible without her help. I also thank the helpful family next door in the apartment building on Hochstraße, who always lend a hand with the electronics for my self-made, animated figures.

The Haunted Hideout is my own personal creation. New details are added every year to keep it exciting for you. I look forward to welcoming you to my garden!
